Join The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with Cahoots!

Cahoots Adventure Camp is Now Facilitating the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award!

That’s right! Cahoots is now offering exciting opportunities for young people to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – and we’re here to guide you every step of the way!

Whether you’re looking to join as a new participant, using Cahoots as your Open Award Centre from start to finish, or you’re already part of a centre and want to take part in our Adventurous Journeys in WA, we’ve got you covered.

From choosing your physical activity, skill development, and volunteering opportunities to providing support and helping you connect with the right resources, Cahoots is here to make your journey a breeze.

So, What Exactly is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

It’s more than just an award – it’s a life-changing adventure! The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is all about having fun, discovering new passions, and pushing yourself to grow in ways you never thought possible.

The Award helps you develop essential life and work skills while having fun and making lasting memories with friends. And, when you complete the program, you earn a recognized achievement that’s respected by employers and universities.

The DofE program is open to young people aged 14-24, with three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level involves four (Bronze and Silver) or five (Gold) sections, including community service, physical activity, skill development, and an adventurous journey. At the Gold level, you’ll also complete a residential activity with a team. It’s not about competing with others; it’s about setting personal challenges and pushing your boundaries.

Through the DofE program, you’ll build confidence, improve your self-esteem, develop key skills like resilience, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication – all of which are incredibly valuable for future opportunities like work, university, and beyond.

    Supporting Education Support Schools

Cahoots is proud to support education support schools by providing a flexible and dynamic framework for students. Schools can use class time to complete activities across the four sections of the Award, creating a great learning opportunity for all. Silver and Gold participants also have the chance to take on leadership roles, helping to build a strong and supportive community.

The EmpowerAbility Officer, a partnership between Cahoots and Duke of Ed WA, is available to assist with program implementation, online record management, funding applications, and more.

Funding Available for Schools and Students

We believe every young person should have the chance to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, so there are various funding streams to help make it happen. This includes financial support for registrations, the Adventurous Journey, and additional assistance for students with special needs.

Schools can apply for individual or group funding, and there’s also specialised funding for centres supporting young people with increased needs.

    Ready for Your Adventurous Journey?

Our expeditions are an exciting part of the DofE experience, and we run them throughout the year. Keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming dates, and check out our Duke of Ed page on the Cahoots Adventure Camp website for all the details and more info on how to get started.

So, what are you waiting for? Join us at Cahoots Adventure Camp, and let’s make your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award experience one to remember!

    Help us, help others

No matter how small, your contribution goes towards helping Cahoots lower the costs for families using our services. Whilst we are NDIS funded, there is often a shortfall between the funding and the cost of our activities, so your donations mean families can still send their loved ones to our camps and programs.

For many, Cahoots is a life changing experience for both the participants who grow, learn and enjoy themselves, but it also provides respite to parents and families from the demands of full time care. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated.
