Working with Purpose, Inclusion and Skill
At Cahoots, Facilitators are the heartbeat of every program, camp and experience. They are the people who turn our vision of inclusion and empowerment into reality. But what exactly does a Cahoots Facilitator do, and why is the role so important?
Understanding Cahoots
Hi! We’re Cahoots! We are a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation that creates inclusive opportunities for children, young people and adults living with disability, as well as others facing exceptional challenges.
As a registered NDIS provider, we offer a wide range of supports throughout the year, including day supports, weekend and holiday camps or ‘overnight supports’, and individual supports. Each experience is designed to help participants develop friendships, skills and confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
At our core, we exist to empower people to belong, grow and thrive, and Facilitators are the ones who make that happen on the ground. They’re mentors, managers and support workers all in one, ensuring every experience is meaningful and inclusive for everyone involved.
The Role of a Facilitator
A Cahoots Facilitator is responsible for leading programs and camps that bring people together for fun, skill-building and connection. They deliver activities that encourage participation, inclusion and personal growth, while also ensuring every individual’s needs are met safely and respectfully.
Facilitators support participants to achieve their goals, whether that’s making new friends, building independence, or simply having a great time in a safe environment. They also manage the welfare and wellbeing of everyone in their care, ensuring each program runs smoothly and in line with Cahoots’ values and policies.
Beyond working directly with participants, Facilitators coordinate and support Volunteer Leaders and Support Workers. They provide leadership, guidance and encouragement, creating a positive team culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
They also handle practical aspects such as maintaining records, personal care tasks, communicating with families and carers, and ensuring programs meet both organisational and NDIS standards.
In many ways, a Facilitator is the bridge between Cahoots’ vision and the lived experiences of its participants. They are the ones who turn our itineraries into real, tangible experiences.
Why the Facilitator Role Matters
Facilitators are essential to the impact Cahoots has in the community. They create safe, joyful spaces where people with disabilities can experience belonging, build skills and enjoy new adventures. Through their leadership, participants are empowered to develop independence and confidence in ways that carry over into their everyday lives.
The role also supports families and carers, offering peace of mind that their loved ones are not only well cared for but are thriving and growing through new experiences. Facilitators ensure that each Cahoots service delivers the quality, safety and positive outcomes that families expect and trust, and that participants deserve.
In short, Facilitators don’t just run activities; they create moments of transformation. They turn camps and programs into places where participants discover what they’re capable of, make lasting friendships, and build memories that inspire lifelong confidence and independence.
A Cahoots Facilitator is more than a team leader or Support Worker, they are a catalyst for inclusion, empowerment and joy. They create spaces where people of all abilities can shine, make friends and gain the confidence to take on the world.
Whether you want to get to know the Cahoots team a bit better, build some trust before joining a service, or you are passionate about helping others, we are always available to answer any questions you may have about our team, and the faces behind the magic.
